Overview
Launched in January 2003, NC Health Info was the first resource of its kind to link local health services with corresponding information in MedlinePlus, the consumer health Web site maintained by the National Library of Medicine.
Researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Health Sciences Library and School of Information and Library Science developed the “Go Local” system, which has since served as a model for other state and regional health-information sites.
Please Note:
NC Health Info provides access to health resources on the Web. With the exception of a very few core resources (hospitals, health departments), only resources with a Web presence are included.
For more information on Go Local, visit The NLM-Hosted Go Local System: an Opportunity for Medical Libraries.
The NC Health Info project team has collected and cataloged Web sites
from around the state, using the Healthy Carolinians
2010 objectives as a guideline to ensure that the collection reflects the health needs
of North Carolinians. We continue to add Web sites and ask all users to help us.
- Suggest any Web sites that we have missed. Use our Suggest a Site form to tell us about them!
- Tell us what you think of NC Health Info, including feedback on how it has worked for you, positive or negative, using the "Feedback and Comments" section of the Suggest a Site form.
- Remember to use the Directories page to locate providers and programs that do not have individual Web sites.
